The Story Behind From: ME To: YOU
When I had my first child a friend told me to write her a letter each year on her birthday and give it to her when she graduates from high school. It stuck with me and I wanted to do this for my girl. I wanted to take a moment and tell her how much she meant to me and what had happened that year, giving thanks for the time we had together and sharing some special memories that I had thought of. Not only would she get my thoughts, but she would get them in my handwriting, which adds that extra special touch. After all, I found that I had been saving cards from my parents throughout the years just because I wanted their handwriting to look back on. Unlike an email, when I read their handwritten words, I can actually also hear their voice, and I wanted my daughter to have that. When my second daughter arrived I noticed that despite my best efforts, time got away from me and I missed writing year two. Mostly because I didn’t have the materials readily available and I kept getting sidetracked. It was around that time that I decided to create a stationery set for all 18 years so that it would be easy for me to grab and complete each year. Then it dawned on me, I could create this stationery set and provide it to other parents to make it easy for them to write to their children. I could develop a business that my children could look back on one day and say, “My mom did that”. It would fulfill my desire to become a business owner and showcase my passion of being a mother. So, From: ME To: YOU was born.
